This is one of the boot error message in windows. There are many reasons for this error. The main reason for this is when you trying to boot from a non bootable media. So first you check whether there is any non bootable floppy disk, CD or a Pen drive. Connected to the computer. If so you can solve this by changing the priority of the boot order in BIOS. Set it as “C” drive.
The other causes as follows.
Configuration changes in Boot.ini
New HDD added to the computer and it set as the primary.
Faulty cable of HDD
File or partition corruption
If it is a file or a partition corruption. You can reload the boot files from an installation CD or a Working windows HDD.
Following are the files to copy .
Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Boot.ini
Ntbootdd.sys
Copy these files to root directory of the OS partition

How to create folders named con lpt1 com1 prn in windows ?
Following names are consider as a device / port in DOs. DOS devices cannot be used as folder names:
CON, PRN, AUX, CLOCK$, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9.
so creating a folder in above names are not possible in windows.
But we can create them with some simple tweaks...
steps as follows .
From command line
to create a folder
mkdir \\.\d:\con (this will create con folder in "D" drive)
use the same method to delete the folder
rmdir \\.\d:\con (this will delete con folder from "D" drive)

To avoid spreading this, disable autorun in windows.
And there is a small tric
Just create a folder named autorun.inf in all the root directory. And change the all the atribs to “+” so that they can’t chant put the files to root direct easly

MD autorun.inf & Attrib +h +s +r autorun.inf
